Correspondence and miscellaneous writings, 1870-1895.

Collection consists primarily of letters received, arranged alphabetically, in which European archaeologists and historians report findings, ideas and activities of their respective academies, much of which is intended for publication in Nardoni's "Bollettino di Archeologia Cristiana." File folders also frequently contain copies of Nardoni's responses. Correspondents and topics include the following: Alberto Amatori - manuscript conservation and neolithic artifacts; Guglielmo Allievi - discovery of terramare; Luigi Bruzza - oratoires and churches near the Dioclesian baths and the unearthing of lead statuettes from the bed of the Tevere; Pompeo Castelfranco - bronze art objects of Viminale on display at the Ethnographic Museum of Lombardy; Gaetano Chierici - reports on finds of amulets and sculpture in Rome from the time of Augustus; Francesco Coppí - a bronze cross and Roman coins discovered in Genzano; Arsenio Crespellani - the duties of his position as government inspector of museums and archaeological digs for the province of Modena; Raffaele Garrucci - the quarrying and shipment of a large block of marble; Auguste Geffroy and Arnoud Le Blanc - projects with the French school in Rome and in conjunction with the Archaeological School.
